Coach Shaun Blair, Owner

Coach Blair is the owner of Air Blair Athletics. He has over 25 years of coaching and training experience in basketball, football & baseball.  For the past 10+ years Coach Blair has served as a contractor in youth sports for the City of Fairfield and the City of Vacaville. Programs offered through his city contracts include: All Sports Camps, Basketball FUNdamentals, Foundational Basketball Training, Mini-hoops, Tiny Athletes, Football Conditioning and Fit and Play, a structured PE style program including sports and fitness activities to get kids up and moving.

Coach Blair started his sports career as an All Nor Cal Baseball & Football player at John F. Kennedy High school in Richmond, CA. Coach Blair went on to play college football at Chico State. After college Coach Blair began coaching Pop Warner football and training elite basketball players with Top Gun Academy which produced players that went on to play at Duke, North Carolina, CAL, Washington, Pepperdine, CSUEB and the NBA. He continued to coach football as the JV Head Coach and Varsity assistant coach at Pinole Valley High School. Players that he coached and trained went on to play at Cal, Stanford, Missouri and into the NFL.

Coach Blair has spent the past few years as the Boys Middle School coach at Vacaville Christian Schools (VCS). He also established the Ascend Basketball Academy (ABA), an AAU Basketball program that has given numerous Solano County players the opportunity to play at the highest amateur level.

Coach Blair continues to run safe and effective ABA programs during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Coach Ken Scruggs

Ken began coaching basketball in recreation leagues in 1988. He did that for 6 years before moving on to coach at various high schools and middle schools in Solano County. He now coaches basketball with Air Blair Athletics and he is having the time of my life. He enjoys teaching, mentoring, and training basketball players of all ages and skill levels. It has been a true blessing for him to do what he lovesfor over 3 decades. He thanks Shaun Blair and Air Blair Athletics for allowing him the opportunity to teach, train and help develop the next generation of positive, God loving athletes.

Coach Kayla Blair

Kayla is passionate about her work with children and has been employed with Air Blair Athletics for 7 years. She is a elementary PE teacher and lead basketball instructor for our Basketball Fundamentals and Ballin Basketball Programs. Kayla began playing basketball at 8 years old. She was a 4 year varsity at Vanden High School. She was the SCAC League MVP and Fairfield City Player of the year in both her junior & senior years. She was also named All-NorCal Division III and All-State Division III in both her junior & senior years as well. She is 1 of only a handful players in school history to score 1,000 pts. Kayla went on to play college basketball at Pepperdine University and Cal State East Bay. She decided to hang up her basketball shoes after her junior year in college and went on to earn her Bachelor of Arts degree in Child Development from Cal State East Bay in 2019. She currently works as a Behavior Assistant in the Vacaville Unified School District and serves as the Assistant Coach for Will C. Wood High School’s Girls Varsity basketball team.

Coach Phoenix Shackelford

Phoenix enjoys teaching and introducing youth to the sports he has played his entire life! He has played almost every sport you can think of including soccer, tennis, baseball, football and basketball. Phoenix attended Vanden High School playing basketball, earning 2 First Team All City awards, 1 Second team all state, and got a bid into the NorCal Sports TV All star game, Sacramento All star game, and the SCAC All Star game. Following high school he earned a full ride athletic scholarship to Cal Poly Pomona. In his freshman year Phoenix won the Freshman of the Year award for his conference as well as second team all conference team.
Phoenix has been apart of Air Blair Athletics for over 10 yrs as a player and now a staff. He enjoys giving back to the Youth of this community.

Coach Jordan Adams

Jordan began playing basketball at 6 years old. He went on to play high school basketball at Vacaville High and was 3x MEL All-League sophomore, junior, & senior years. He played 2 years at Solano Community College where he led the nation in Juco 3pt% at 54.7% and was #4 in the State in 3pts made. He earned a scholarship to play basketball at William Jessup University. He is currently a Pre-Med student studying Biology and working towards applying to medical school to pursue a career as an anesthesiologist. Jordan enjoys working with ABA because it provides him the opportunity to help kids learn the fundamentals of sports, maximize their potential, & most importantly, have fun.

Coach Braxton Adderly

Braxton loves to play and teach the game of basketball. He has been around the game for as long as he can remember and played at many different levels. He enjoys teaching the younger generation and has experience training all ages. He attended Angelo Rodriguez High School where he made All City 1st team, the conference All Star game, and was nominated team captain during his junior and senior years. After High School he attended Napa Valley Community College where he was a captain for both years and a two year starter.  He lead the team in minutes, scoring, assists, steals, free throw attempts, makes, and percentage which led to his selection for 1st Team All-Conference in the Bay Valley Conference. His two years at Napa lead to multiple basketball scholarships both in and out of state. He chose to stay in Solano County and currently studies and plays basketball at Cal Maritime.

Coach Evan Adams

Evan has played basketball, soccer, and football since his childhood, and wants to share his knowledge of the sports with others. Evan attended Vacaville High School, where he played varsity basketball from freshman year. Evan was the varsity captain and was acknowledged as All MEL 1st team his senior year. He also played varsity football his junior and senior year earning an ALL MEL 2nd team his senior year. Throughout the years he has found the passion to teach and help others to excel in sports and to overall become the best they can be. He enjoys his time working for ABA because it helps him spread positivity through sports. This upcoming year he will be attending Solano community college to study biology.

Coach Nate Sanders

Nathan has been around sports all his life. From playing baseball for 7 years and football for 2 at Vacaville Christian School. He found his passion for the game of basketball as he played with the Vacaville city league throughout elementary school then attended Vacaville High School where he played and was awarded the most improved player in his sophomore season. His love for the game grew even more as he found passion in teaching/coaching the youth with the Vacaville PAL Basketball Summer camp back in 2017. Being a part of Air Blair Athletics has allowed Nathan to help the youth find passion for sports as well as providing them with hope for a bright future.

Coach Aaron Fearon

Aaron has been around the game of basketball as long as he can remember. He played all throughout elementary and middle school. He went on to play high school basketball at Vacaville high school where he was recognized for being a scholar athlete. Aaron brings a great skillset to ABA. He is fluent in Spanish, CPR certified and completed his 2 year Kinesiology CTE. He has a positive attitude and enjoys working with Air Blair Athletics because it allows him to help kids develop their love for sports. Aaron will be attending Solano community college in the fall to major in business in hopes of transferring to a university to further his education.

Coach Isaac Tovar

Isaac has played sports since he was a child. He played baseball and basketball for many years but always had a passion for basketball. He played for the city of Vacaville growing up and evolved as a player and decided to play AAU for NorCal dynasty. In high school he was awarded a scholar athlete and decided to take kinesiology and is now CPR certified. Growing up as the oldest child he is used to helping and communicating with younger children.  Isaac has found a passion with teaching sports for Air Blair Athletics and hopes he can continue to help kids learn and improve their game.  Isaac will be attending Solano community college in the fall to major in criminal justice and plans to transfer to a university in the near future to pursue a major in criminology.
